DTN WEEKLY ROUND UP: Last week the bulk of business was delayed until Friday
afternoon with Northern dressed sales showing a range of $374 to $385, mostly
$380, $4 lower than last week's weighted average basis Nebraska. Southern
trade started even later in the afternoon with live deals marked at mostly
$235, steady to .50 lower than last week's weighted averages. According to
Thursday's Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle Negotiated Purchase Summary reports
the weekly accumulated weighted averages were recorded as: KS $237.00
($235.50); NE $No Test($383.72); TX $237.00($235.00); IA $380.00($383.69); CO
not available due to confidentiality. (the prior week's weighted averages are
listed in parentheses). Due to the very late week trade, accumulated weighted
averages were not available or not necessarily near what they will be when
summary reports are released a little later this morning.

The Friday afternoon Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle report lists week-to-date
trade volume totals as: KS 596; NE 7,717; TX 594, IA 10,780; CO NA due to
confidentiality. Again, due to the late week trading these numbers are well
below what will be published on summary reports. Friday's slaughter totaled
88,000 head, 5,000 less than the prior week, and 17,000 below a year ago.
Saturday's kill was estimated at 1,000 head, bringing the weekly total to
536,000 head, 1,000 more than the previous week, but down 52,000 from 2024.
The weekly average for boxed beef cutouts and boxed beef cuts: choice $373.67
(+9.99), select $349.55(+7.13), with an average choice select spread of
$24.12(+2.86), and a total load count including cuts, trimmings, and grinds
of 469(-91), (Changes from the prior week are listed in parentheses).

For the week ending August 02, 2025, Imported Beef Passed for Entry in the
U.S. totaled 47,375, 93.27% of the previous week and 91.55% of the 4-week
average

DTN MORNING COMMENTS: The day is starting out as typically quiet Monday with
both buyers and sellers busy taking inventory and preparing for the week
ahead. Bids and asking prices are not established, and significant trade
volume will likely be delayed until much later in the week. Beef cutouts are
expected to be mixed with light box movement.
